Youth Power, together with volunteers and members of Be A Men Club Mostar, was part of the regional Youth Leadership Camp in Sutjeska. The camp was organized by Care International Balkans and partners, in period between July 1st – 4th. The main goal of this activity was to educate and work with young men and women on building leadership skills and competencies, reinforcing healthy lifestyles and endorsing general youth development.
This year’s camp hosted 70 young women and men, peer educators and members of Be A Men Club from Mostar, Belgrade, Priština, Tirana, Zagreb, Banja Luka, Sarajevo, Tuzla, Brčko, Bijeljina and many other smaller towns across the region.
In addition to the workshops aimed at increasing knowledge and skills about leadership and the prevention of violence that youngsters were doing during the camp, they had also the opportunity to participate at team building competition. Six teams fought for the title of the best, all with the aim of promoting healthy lifestyles. During the camp, boys and girls went through a very dynamic leadership educational program.
Youth Leadership camp is camp where the most active members of local Be a Man Clubs have made an exceptional contribution and demonstrated leadership skills in relation to violence prevention and health promotion. CARE together with Youth Power and all partner organizations strongly believe that all young people have the potential to become future leaders.
Youth Leadership Camp is organized in partnership with organizations Youth Power Mostar, IPD- Institute for Population and Development from Sarajevo, Perpetuum Mobile from Banja Luka, Udruženje Zemlja djece u BiH from Tuzla, PRONI from Bijeljina, Forum Teatar from East Sarajevo, Otaharin from Bijeljina, Centar E8 and SMart Kolektiv from Belgrade, SIT and YMCA from Priština, Center ACT for SOCIETY from Tirana and Status M from Zagreb.
The organization of the camp is supported by the Government of Switzerland, through the project “Young Men Initiative (YMI): Promoting Healthier Lifestyles and Decrease of Interpersonal Violence among Youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina by Challenging Gender Stereotypes; Phase III” and “Future for You(th): Young people as Leaders of Life Skills Education in the Balkans” funded by Austrian Development Cooperation, CARE Germany and Oak Foundation.
