Educational Program “Digitalization in Youth Work”, Session 2: Digital Skills for the Future – Webinar 2

The second webinar in the “Digitalization in Youth Work” series, “Digital Skills for the Future,” focused on equipping youth workers with the tools and strategies to develop critical digital skills. In a world where digital literacy is increasingly essential, this session empowered participants to identify their strengths, address skill gaps, and set actionable goals for continuous learning.

Key activities

  1. Digital Skills Workshop

We explored the broad spectrum of digital skills that are vital for youth work today. Topics included basic skills like online communication and research, as well as advanced competencies like coding, data analysis, and cybersecurity. Real-world examples and case studies demonstrated the practical applications of these skills in youth work contexts.

  1. Skills Assessment

Participants evaluated their digital competencies using tools like the Europass Digital Skills Assessment. This exercise encouraged self-reflection and helped participants pinpoint areas for growth. Understanding one’s current skill level is the first step toward improvement.

  1. Personalized Learning Plan Development

A hands-on activity guided participants in creating SMART learning goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound). Participants identified resources like Coursera and Codecademy to address their skill gaps, fostering a proactive approach to lifelong learning.

Virtual Tools and Tips

To ensure accessibility, we demonstrated how platforms like Mural can be used for collaborative goal-setting and how Europass provides a structured framework for assessing and improving digital skills.

This session emphasized that digital skills are not just technical abilities but essential tools for communication, problem-solving, and innovation in youth work. By empowering youth workers to take ownership of their learning, we aim to prepare them for the digital challenges and opportunities of the future.
