Educational Program “Digitalization in Youth Work”, Session 3: Navigating Digital Ethics and Security – Webinar 3

The third webinar, “Navigating Digital Ethics and Security,” addressed some of the most pressing concerns in today’s digital landscape: ethical dilemmas and cybersecurity. Designed to equip youth workers with the knowledge and tools to navigate these challenges, this session highlighted the importance of critical thinking and responsible digital behavior in youth work.

Key activities

  1. Expert Talk on Digital Ethics

The session kicked off with an expert speaker sharing insights on ethical challenges in digitalization. Topics included privacy, data security, and the ethical implications of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence. The Q&A session provided an opportunity for participants to engage directly with the expert, raising questions about real-world scenarios.

  1. Interactive Role-Play Scenarios

Participants worked in groups to tackle ethical dilemmas and security challenges through role-play activities. Scenarios included issues like data misuse, online harassment, and balancing transparency with privacy. Each group presented their solutions, sparking lively discussions and diverse perspectives.

  1. Cybersecurity Best Practices Workshop

This hands-on segment provided practical tips for protecting personal information and maintaining online security. Participants learned how to create strong passwords, recognize phishing attempts, and use security tools like two-factor authentication.

Adapting for Virtual Delivery

To facilitate online participation, we used tools like Padlet for brainstorming ethical scenarios and Google Slides for sharing best practices. These tools ensured the activities remained interactive and engaging in a virtual setting.

Ethical awareness and cybersecurity are essential for anyone working in the digital age, especially youth workers who influence the next generation. This webinar provided critical knowledge and practical strategies to address these challenges effectively.
