NGO Youth Power organized another summit about entrepreneurship in Mostar on February 21, 2020. The summit was organized as part of the ACT- Artist Create Together project, which Youth Power has been conducting for the second year. The aim of this summit was to educate and motivate young people about youth entrepreneurship in various fields from IT learning to the arts.
As part of the summit, four workshops were organized about youth entrepreneurship and more than 70 people attended. At the beginning of the summit, a presentation of the results and activities what we did in last year was introduced to the participants.
One of the speakers at the summit was Sejo Ivkovic, a young entrepreneur from BiH, who introduced his D-app. D-App is the unique and first application in the world that represents a direct connection between a professional person and potentially ill person from depression and depressive disorders, for the purpose of education, prevention and treatment. Activities and work of of the Center for Children and Youth with Special Needs Los Rosales Mostar were presented by their executive director, especially their restaurant Lonato Lunchroom (https://www.facebook.com/lonatolunchroom/), which is the first restaurant in BiH where young people and people with special needs work as employee.
A representative of our partner organization Raghda Bassam, MasterPeace Netherlands, introduced us with ‘Social Business Model Canvas’ methodology that they developed as part of their organization. Their methodology is unique and developed with the purpose of supporting everyone who wants to start a social enterprise. Participants had the opportunity to develop their ideas during the workshops based on this methodology.
One of the lecturers was the talented Lubna Ćurić from Mostar. Lubna participated in ACT activities the previous year as well. She attends the Mostar Rock School, plays drums, composes her own music and she is a member of two bands. The participants of the ACT summit were inspired by her story and work on her career as a musician.
The Artist Create Together project is being implemented from 2018 to 2020 in 5 countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Georgia, Morocco and the Netherlands. The aim of the project is to develop perspective through culture, to build strong intra- and international connections and to encourage cultural, social and economic change. Young people, as a target group of the project, have this potential to change established practices and negative perceptions in society.
