“May every day be March 8th for you,” said the students from our seven partner schools.
Youth Power, along with seven partner schools, organized an action to mark International Women’s Day on Monday March 9. Each school organized this action individually on their premises, where they wanted to make happy all female students and professors with flowers, sweets and inspirational messages from women who left a mark in their work and achieved great achievements through history.
The goal of this action was to remind society that we are all equal and that we should fight together against all forms of discrimination.
All the actions, including this one for International Women’s Day, were planned for this year on training for students and educators from the seven high schools that we work with.
During these trainings, students had the opportunity to create and prepare campaigns for this school year, and they worked on improving their skills in order to continue educating their peers in schools on the topics of preventing gender-based violence and promoting healthier lifestyles among young people.
With this action, young peer educators have proven that they are more than capable to create campaigns on their own for their schools. The next action we plan to do together will take place next month on World Mental Health Day.
The activity was implemented as part of the YMI – Young Men Initiative project: “Promoting Healthier Lifestyle among Young People in Bosnia and Herzegovina by Challenging Gender Stereotypes II”, supported by the Governments of Switzerland, OAK Foundation, Austrian Development Agency and CARE International Bosnia and Herzegovina.
