At the beginning of the new school year, Youth Power signed a memorandum of cooperation as part of the “Youth Initiative” program with eight partner high schools from the HNK area. The signing of this memorandum marks a long and successful cooperation between the non-governmental organization Youth Power and eight partner high schools from the area.
In the period from 15.10 to 7.11, Youth Power organized a series of meetings with principals from eight high schools in the area of HNK/HNŽ. The goal of each meeting was to agree on cooperation and activities within the “Youth Initiative” program until the end of 2023. After the signing of the memorandum, negotiations on the next steps began. The first activity included an initial survey that included more than 700 students from eight secondary schools with which we cooperate.
The third phase (2021-2023) is focused on creating tangible and long-term systematic solutions, and the key will be the official integration of Program Y (for secondary schools) and Program E (for higher grades of primary schools) as part of the mandatory curriculum after the end of the project throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina as a result of intensive cooperation with the ministries of education (Outcome 1). CARE, Youth power and other partners Institute for Population and Development from Sarajevo and Institute Perpetuum Mobile from Banja Luka will continue to build the project on the achievements of the first two phases and to ensure the implementation of adequate solutions that will last even after the end of the project.
Gender transformative programming within the Youth Initiative projects started in 2006 and supported by the Swiss Agency made an exceptional contribution to enabling positive and peaceful societies and a healthy environment for young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The activity was realized within the framework of the Young Men Initiative III (YMI – Young Men Initiative): “III (YMI – Young Men Initiative): “Promoting healthier lifestyles and reducing interpersonal violence among young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina by challenging gender stereotypes II” and the project: “Future for Youth: Youth as Leaders of Life Skills Education in the Balkans”, supported by the Government of Switzerland, the Oak Foundation, the Austrian Development Agency and CARE International Balkans
